Biography

Dr. Jennifer Summers more than 20 years of experience as an occupational therapist and occupational therapy assistant. She obtained her MS and OTD, from the University of Illinois at Chicago, her BS in Behavioral Science from Grand Valley State University and AAS in Occupational Therapy Assisting from Grand Rapids Community College. She has worked in several institutional settings such as inpatient behavioral health hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, acute hospitals, and forensic mental health facilities. She also has experience with community and population-based settings such as home health care in inner cities, domestic violence shelters, community mental health organizations, and community accessibility work with city governments. Dr. Summers has worked in academia as Adjunct Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Assistant Professor at Grand Valley State University, and Assistant Professor at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (USAHS). She currently services as a Senior Faculty Development Specialist for USAHS.
