Persistent Pain; Central Sensitization vs Abnormal Biomechanics. Part 1: Introduction
Webinar Starts In:
Course Summary
The International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) defines chronic pain as persistent or recurrent pain lasting longer than 3 months. Labeling a patient’s clinical condition with the term “chronic pain”, when dealing with pain lasting longer than 3 months, might be misleading. It appears, indeed, that the term “chronic pain” shows a semantic inaccuracy based on emerging scientific evidence on the pathogenesis of different long-standing pain states. Biomechanical abnormities in the musculoskeletal system can’t easily seen by all clinicians (MDs, Therapists, Psychologist) dealing with patient. Successful pain treatment relies on understanding whether persistent pain is related to central sensitization or biomechanical abnormality of the musculoskeletal system.
Objective
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to
- Understand the definition of pain and how it applies to persistent pain.
- Learn how clinicians can be a barrier to pain management.
- Learn pain pathways.
- Review advanced in biomechanics and role of ligaments in persistent pain.
- Understand an introduction on Kinetic Chain Arch (a biomechanical discovery by the author)
- Explore an effective treatment option in persistent pain.
